In the city of Dénia, on the night of the 5th of June 1625, an ‘andana’ (public announcement) was made to warn the population of the funeral ceremonies for the death of the 5th Marquis.
At 10 p.m., at each corner of the itinerary, the bell was rung and the ‘andana’ was read out loud and clear.
The procession left the current Plaza de la Constitución, in front of the Town Hall, and continued along Calle Cavallers (where we are now), along Calle Mayor, Loreto and up towards the castle, the old town and the church. There they continued along the streets called ‘de Arriba’, ‘de Abajo’, etc… which have now disappeared.
